My painting, “Dragon of a Dying Sun”. The result of strange days, months of anger seeking an outlet. Months of heavy art block. And the return to the habit of starting the year by drawing dragons, like the “Dragonary” challenge launched years ago by Matt Stawicki.
Work in progress
A pencil sketch on A4 paper, turned detailed ballpen drawing, then colored in digital with Photoshop and Media Tablet.

2024 has been a seemingly quiet year, but sprinkled with art nonetheless. I have had little energy to dedicate to posting on web and social media, so there are several finished works just sitting on my desk. There are paintings I have created for myself, others commissioned and published, some awaiting release. There are countless sketches that dot my notebooks, waiting to be developed. I am still in energy savingmode, and my good intentions for this year are to get back into gear with the creation of new paintings. And their publication 😅
Thank you, reader, for sharing this art journey with me.
Dear readers, I present you two new unicorn paintings: a quiet one, and a fiery one. 💧 “Unicorn brook” is a solitary, melachonic unicorn. Dark patterns swirls on its coat, like runes or scars. 🔥”Fire Unicorn” is a creature made of flames. A unicorn, yes, but full of energy, rebellion, power. And with a very pissed off look. One painted last spring, the other this winter. In between, an artistic block not yet completely overcome. I’m working on it.

Art reveal: the manual “Seekers in Solace” is out, published on DM Guild by the Dragonlance Nexus. The 4 pieces created for this project, created in the distant May 2024, are linked at the bottom of the page.
📕 The manual “Dragonlance – Seekers of Solace” by the Dragonlance Nexus contains 4 original paintings by me.
Here for you (and for me) Prince Raoden from the book “Elantris,” by Brandon Sanderson. Fanart – fan+art – basically, what people want. Crave. I love a book, then I want to have something more, an illustration to celebrate the book, the character, to bring a scene to life as I imagined it.
“Elantris” is a beautiful book by Brandon Sanderson. A nice story, an interesting setting, and then that “thing” – invisible to the eyes – leaving something good inside.
Well, he’s not in a good shape right now. Raoden was “cursed”, yet he found the strenght to smile. To follow a purpose – and here there was the “secret” to ignore pain, hunger and desperation, by focusing on something constructive, something you enjoy doing.
“We’re not dead just because our hearts stopped beating. We need to convince ourselves that we can go on. The Shaod isn’t causing all the pain here—I’ve seen people on the outside lose hope too, and their souls end up just as emaciated as those poor wretches in the square. If we can restore even a tiny bit of hope to these people, then their lives will improve drastically.” [Elantris]
I had a bad day, so I created this simple sketch for myself. A scene from the book – a smile and a welcome – and a reminder. Yes, you are having a bad day, Raoden is also having a horrible day, but he finds the strength to smile. Because he has a purpose, he has hope.

“Raistlin, tea and books” is my new digital painting. In occasion of Raistlin’s birthday, on 17 June 2024, I drew “something” about him as I did in the past 3 years. A personal challenge, a reminder I should draw something for myself. Raistlin Majere is a character from the “Dragonlance” books by M. Weis and T. Hickman, this is a work of fanart.
Raistlin’s “day of life” is often the occasion of weird ideas from his friends – like surprise parties for him and his twin, silly and embarassing gifts he has no use for. So we should ask, what would the perfect birthday gift be? The answer is: a quiet day. A quiet day of tea and books. Perhaps holed up in Lemuel’s house, like a friend suggested.
“The coppers have a proud ancestry, dating back to the matriarch Querrasian. The offspring of her first eggs included Blayze and Hyaniss, who mated to create the eggs of the next generation. The survivors of that clutch were Tharn and Sithtillaxx who, upon their flight from the grotto, grew to maturity and survived to become the procenitors of all copper dragons living today.” (from the Fift Age Dragons – manual)
Digital paintings of of Lilith Hallmark, Aesthetic and librarian from Solamnia, and Basalt Fireforge, hill dwarf and nephew of Flint in the Dragonlance fandom. Created as an internal illustrations for the game manual “Untold Quests” [coming soon on Dungeon Master Guild].
Lilith Hallmark had the honor of leading the recovery expedition to the library of Tarsis after its destruction. She cataloged and rearranged books and scrolls, and became one of the most influential aesthetics after Bertrem.
Basalt Fireforge is the nephew of the more famous Flint Fireforge, character of the Dragonlance books by M. Weis and T. Hickman. A neidar (hill dwarf) born in Hillhome. Trained as a smith, after much personal growth and adventures he became the Major of Hillhome and innkeeper.
This paintings will be interior art for an upcoming manual:

🗡🐲 Finally I can share a painting I was keeping under cover: “Kitiara Uth Matar and Myrtani the Aurak” – Dragonlance Fandom. The war is lost, the battlefield a disaster. Kitiara, dragonlord of the blue army, is giving a killing stare to her ally Myrtani the Aurak, currently ranting about the recent disaster. Commissioned as cover art for the upcoming DnD 5 manual by the Dragonlance Nexus “Champions of Krynn”
My new painting for the Dragonlance Nexus! The war is lost, and Kitiara Uth Matar is not happy. The fact Myrtani the Aurak is there, ranting and complaining about his new orders, doesn’t improve the situation.
