A new dragon painting: sketched in January, now reworked and dedicated to the aurora borealis.
Hidden among the misty silvery mountains, there’s a secret valley, a sanctuary for the most elusive creatures of the legends. A dragon, blue like the sky on a day of spring, alert like a hawk watching over his nest, stands guard against any intruder.
The aurora borealis is such a rare phenomenon, not just for the beauty of the lights in the sky: there’s a dragon, immortal and ephemeral, whose existence is revealed only by the Northern Lights.

Dragonary is an annual inspirational event about drawing dragons, thanks to the prompts given by Matthew Stawicki Art.
These are daily sketches (pencil, photoshop, and Cintiq) I hope to transform into full paintings in the future.

This artwork was chosen as a finalist (10 finalists among 300 dragons entered) for the Dragon Shield contest “Aurora Dragon” held in March 2023.
