Raistlin and Dalamar // Asleep

Raistlin Majere, the wizard black robe from Dragonlance fandom, here is depicted while, sick in bed, is attended by his dark elf apprentice – Dalamar Nighson from Silvanesti – from a scene both from the original book by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, but also from a fanfic named Devotion, a fanfic story by IsabelleMajere. The setting is an alternative universe, where events did go different from what narrated in Dragonlance famous books. In this scene is set in a corridor in the Tower of High Sorcery of Palanthas.

Haircombing scene // Fanfic Devotion

Taking care of someone else can be very difficult, or very cozy instead. This is an illustration of a scene not from the original Dragonlance Books, but from the fanfic “Devotion” of IsabelleMajere.
Healing from the wounds suffered during the recent clash with the Conclave,  the Dalamar of this AU is helped by Raistlin, always very considerate when it comes to taking care of sick and injured people, but especially this time.
A very domestic scene, only the diagram of the phases of the three Moons of Krynn remember us there are two poweful mages in the dark Tower of Palanthas.

In this scene, Raistlin Majere is alone in his study, meditating about something really, really important. The afternoon light pervades the room, the many rare and interesting things in the room are losing importance confronted with the subject of the mage’s thoughts. The setting is an alternative universe, where events did go different from what narrated in Dragonlance famous books. 
This scene is from Chapter 5, totally AU – a conversation between the mage and the priestess in a room in the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas. On the wall, a brass plate with the main gods of Krynn and constellations, from the window you can see the Shoikan grove and the temples in the city. And Raistlin is lying to himself while explaining something really important… and this time Crysania will not be fooled about it.

Raistlin, the great master

So, this is a Fan-Art for the character Raistlin Majere, the archmage in Dragonlance Books by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.

The subtitle could be something like “Non hai capito, qui il figo sono io” [“You don’t understand, I’M the cool one here”], saying that  to all the characters of Dragonlance novels and all the Dragonlance fans that do not love Raistlin. So… his affirmation of how much powerful, amazing and cool he is now… It could be set at the end of Dragons of spring dawning. It was since he was a thin and weak child he dreamed of telling them that.

Raistlin Majere, the Hourglass Mage

Raistlin Majere, Dragonlance Saga from M. Weis and T. Hickman.
Love this sorcerer so much. His character, his actions in good and evil. 
His biting remarks, his vision of the world.
The power, the emotions, the tragedy.

This piece will probably became one of mine “Gioconda pieces”: when I will have better skill, I will try again (and again, and again) to finish it, maybe with acrilycs, maybe in digital. 
For now, this is the best I can do without spoiling the sketch.

As a anatomy model, I started using Anton Kruglov profile (Антона Круглова), the composer of the Raistlin musical “The Last Trial” (ПредПоследнее Испытание), whose music and poetry has been pursuing my mind since I heard it.

Back to year 2000: Sketch of Dalamar

Dalamar Argent, Dalamar Nightson. The Black robed Silvanesti elf from the Dragonlance saga by M. Weis & T. Hickman. The apprentice of Raistlin Majere, then the master of the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas.
I imagine this way his face, the michevious smile, the delicate features. I’m not able to draw this traits in all my other Dalamar drawings, but if I could, all of them should be derivate from this one, that was the very first.
