Nebula dragon is a digital painting created with attention to detail. This cosmic painting captures the ethereal beauty of space with vibrant colors and intricate design, and the magic of a dragon drifting among planets and stars.
How long does it take to finish a painting? In this case, it took 3 years. I created the sketch, lineart and draft color in 2022, during that month of January spent creating one dragon after another for the “Dragonary” challenge established by Matt Stawicki. Then the painting remained there, and I always promised myself to fix it, to finish it somehow. And here we are. It’s June 2025 and I have finally completely taken over both the background and the dragon, trying not to lose the personality of this fascinating creature that sails among the clouds of dust suspended between the worlds.

Can dragons travel in space? Why not? This is one of the characteristics of dragons in the Spelljammer universe, a Dungeons & Dragons setting recently (2022) re-released for the fifth edition.
